Vietnam becomes a party to the international convention on civil liability for bunker oil pollution damage, 2001

The Convention will enter into force for Viet Nam on 18 September 2010, in accordance with the provisions of article 14.

Tokyo Mou will carry out a concentrated inspection campaign (CIC) on harmful substances

The eighteen member Authorities of the Tokyo MOU will embark on a concentrated inspection campaign (CIC) on Harmful Substances (Marine Pollutants) Carried in Packaged Form in accordance with MARPOL Annex III, SOLAS Chapter VII and the IMDG Code. The three-month campaign will start on September 1, 010 and end on November 30, 2010."

Tankers inspected for damage stabili by Paris - Mou

The Paris Memorandum on Port State Control will start a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) to verify correct damage stability on oil tankers, chemical tankers and gas carriers. This inspection campaign will last for 3 months, starting on 1 September and ending on 30 November 2010."

The 20th Tokyo MOU PSC Committee meeting

The 20th Meeting of representatives of the Port State Control Committee, the governing body under the Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control in the Asia-Pacific Region (Tokyo MOU) was held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 14 to 17 June 2010.

The Diplomatic Conference of IMO Parties in Manila, Philippine adopted amendments to the 1978 International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), and the Seafarers' Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping Code.

Cutting steel plate for construction of 54,000 DWT Bulk Carrier

On October 8th, 2008, Dung Quat Shipbuilding Company held steel cuting plate ceremony for 54,000 DWT Bulk Carrier of Shinpetrol.

Ship detention by PSC

According to the Tokyo MOU source, from 15 August to 15 September 2008, 11ships registered Vietnamese flag were detained among 64 inspections carried out by the member authorities of the Tokyo MOU (17%).

In September 2008, 175 surveys for sea-going ships classed with VR were carried out, including 50 annual surveys, 45 occasional surveys and 45 intermediate and on dock surveys.
