Joint Concentrated Inspection Campaign on MARPOL ANNEX VI of Tokyo-MOU and Paris-MOU

Please be informed that the Paris MoU issued a Press release announcing the launch of the following

IMO Requirements on portable atmosphere testing instruments

IMO Resolution MSC.380(94) was adopted in its ninety-fourth session of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC94) held on November 2014, and mandatory requirement for portable atmosphere testing instruments for enclosed spaces was newly added to SOLAS Chapter XI -1 Regulation 7. The requirements are as follows.

SOLAS Container Mass Verification Rule Enter into force 1st July 2016

A new regulation requiring the gross mass of a container to be verified before it is loaded onto a ship enters into force today (1 July 2016). It will assist in ensuring that the millions of containers carried on ships each year are optimally stowed, thereby helping to prevent container stacks collapsing and containers being lost overboard, and the associated injury and loss of life.
