In the morning of 7/21/2010, the Department of Transport Ho Chi Minh City in cooperation with Vietnam Register conducted emissions tests for passenger cars and city buses in Ho Chi Minh City area.

On 29 September 2009, Vietnam Register (VR) in coordination with Japan Automobile Standards Internationalization Center (JASIC) organized the 20th Expert Meeting on Safety Glass – ECE R43 at VR Head Quarters.

With the consent of the Ministry of Transport, Vietnam Register has carried out technical inspection of urban railway vehicle of approved projects. In the first period, VR will cooperate with Classification Societies to inspect for learn experiences and then work independently.

After 3 months of applying the decision 249/2005/QD-TTg regulated the roadmap to apply the motor vehicle emission standard, the failure rate in emission inspection of motor vehicle went down.

In September 2008, 2,193 imported motor vehicles, among which 1,475 new motor vehicles and 718 in-used motor vehicles; 7,378 new motorcycles and 1,261 working machineries were carried out with quality inspection and certification by VR.

In August 2008, 91,423 motor vehicles were inspected, among them 71,750 vehicles satisfied with applicable standards.

On 11 October, 2008, the Workshop on “Refrigerant in Automobile air-condition” was organized at the VR's Headquarters. This workshop was a part of the Project: “National plan on phasing out CFC and Halon (NCHP)”.

On 11 October 2008, Vietnam Register organized the The Motor Vehicle Technical Safety Inspection and Environment Protection Training Workshop in Hanoi with the presence of Mr. Trinh Ngoc Giao - General Director, Mr. Do Huu Duc – Deputy General Director, technical staff in the Motor Vehicle Technical Safety Inspection Department (VAR), Environment Dept., Training Center, IT Center and the management staff, inspectors from Motor Vehicle Inspection Centers in the North Provinces.

In August 2008, 2,735 imported motor vehicles were carried out with quality inspection and certification by VR, among which 1,678 new motor vehicles and 1,057 in-used motor vehicles. 7,221 new motorcycles were inspected.

After a month of inspection of automobile emission according to new standards, over 11,000 automobiles (8,457 trucks, passenger cars used diesel and 3,084 gasoline vehicles) were failed to comply with this standard, equivalent to 15.2%, among 75,857 automobiles were inspected.
